The Rev. Lucile S. "Lucy" Plettinger A native of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and resident of Weyanoke, she was born Aug. 24, 1937, and died Friday, June 13, 2008. Lucy graduated from LSU in 1959 with an education degree.

After raising her family and being active at Trinity Church, Crowley, she and husband of 49 years, Will Gordon Plettinger, moved to West Feliciana Parish. Lucy worked for many years with McDonalds Restaurants and was recently retired from Bank of St. Francisville. She is survived by husband, Will; daughters, Margaret Plettinger Mitchell and husband, Bob, of Cheraw, S.C., and Kathy P. Kane and husband Tim; grandchildren, James and Madeleine Kane, all of St. Francisville; and brother, Barnie Reynolds and wife Joyce, of Portland, Maine. Lucy was an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Church and served Grace Church, St. Francisville. Several of her ministries included the nursing home, Mission Committee, Angola Prison ministries, Camp Hardtner and many diocesan committees. She was a former member of the Vestry and served as senior warden. She was a charter member and past president of the Rotary Club of St. Francisville. Preceded in death by her son, Lee Stroud Plettinger; and parents, T.T. and Lucile Stroud, who were of Eunice.

Service will be at Grace Church, St. Francisville, on Tuesday, June 17, at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. John Senette. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. in Jackson Hall, 11621 Ferdinand St. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Benton, Dr. Don Meyer, Carter Leak, Conville Lemoine, Audis Thornton, Mike Piercy, Jacob Paul Meyer, James Kane and John Doullut. Special thanks given to Dr. Georgia Reine, Dr. William Hines and Pierre Baker, R.N. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Grace Church, P.O. Box 28, St. Francisville, LA 70775.
