Don’t mind our mess!

We continue to address maintenance needs at the Rectory, Jackson Hall and the church. We are aggressively working several projects now that Preschool is out and we don’t have many activities.

  • Rectory repairs, interior and exterior painting are now complete.
  • Reroofing of Jackson Hall is underway as of Monday, May19 and the roofing contractor tells us this will only take a few days. Thank you Peggy Gammill for suggesting Garcia Roofing – they are reasonable and on the ball!
  • Our painting contractor is moving into the main hall area of Jackson Hall and will also repaint the kitchen, including the cabinets and the parlor/dining room area. Then they will move upstairs to repaint the rooms and hallway.
  • The painters have also cleaned the exterior of the church building and are preparing to repaint all exterior window trim and the front door.
  • The altar archway lighting has now been fixed as well as the chandelier. Many thanks to Scott Thibodeaux for providing the scaffolding for the chandelier work and to Scott and Tiger Olsen for setting it up and taking it down. That saved us alot of money and time.

Visiting Priests in May:

  • Former Rector, Father Ken Dimmick, will visit Grace on Sunday, May 18
  • Canon Mark Stevenson joins us to celebrate the Eucharist on Sunday, May 25

Father Senette travels abroad in late May and June

Father Senette will be making a trip to Turkey, followed by trip to New York for the Church Pension Group meetings. During his absence, we will be blessed with several supply priests to help us celebrate the Eucharist: Canon Albergate, June 1; Father Holzhalb, June 15 & 22; and, Father Howe, June 29.

The Day the War Stopped

This event will be held the third weekend in June 2008. For a brief moment in 1863, the civil war stopped in the St. Francisville for a burial of Lt. Commander John E. Hart, commander of the federal gunboat Albatross. In commemoration of this unique event in history: a re-enactment of the burial in the Grace Church cemetery, a play by local performers and other activities are scheduled.
